Baha’is of Pasadena meet regularly with their friends and neighbors to read and study the Creative Word in informal “Study Circles” and work through a formal curriculum with a tutor or facilitator. Study circles are held in an uplifting environment conducive to the spiritual empowerment of individuals, who come to see themselves as active agents of their own learning. The facilitator does not attempt to impart knowledge, and rather assists with discussions. Study circles feature participatory learning, involving discussion with others, and the use of the arts. Study circles are open to all.
“Let them not fail to appreciate the value of the culture now taken root in the community that promotes the systematic study of the Creative Word in small groups in order to build capacity for service.”

-The Universal House of Justice, Ridván 2010“[The tutor must create] an environment conducive to the spiritual empowerment of individuals, who will come to see themselves as active agents of their own learning, as protagonists of a constant effort to apply knowledge to effect individual and collective transformation.”
